10 Things To Consider Before A Breast Lift – Dr. Ted Eisenberg

Are you a candidate for a breast lift? Should you also consider implants? What can you expect during recovery? Here are 10 things consider.

A breast lift, or mastopexy, raises and firms your breasts, giving them a more youthful look. Dr. Ted Eisenberg accomplishes this by removing the excess skin, moving the nipples to a new, higher position, and suturing the remaining tissue together to create a sling – essentially a natural support bra – that raises and reshapes your breasts.

To determine if you are a candidate for a lift, try the “pencil test.” Take off your bra and look in the mirror. Place a pencil horizontally along the crease under your breast where your bra band would rest. Does your nipple – not your areola – rest above, below, or at the pencil?

Perk Up: Pregnancy, weight loss and aging can get the ‘girls’ down, but breast lift surgery can restore their joie de vivre

For 26-year-old Rachael L. (not her real name), breast lift surgery came to the rescue following a weight loss that left her with breasts that didn’t suit her otherwise fit and youthful body. “I had lost some weight that I had put on in college, and I wanted to be perkier again,” explains Rachael, who considered a breast lift (or mastopexy) for a little over a year before deciding to move forward with the procedure.

Rachael opted to have the surgery performed by Dr. Ted Eisenberg, a board certified plastic surgeon whose name is synonymous with cosmetic breast surgery in Philadelphia and the surrounding Delaware Valley.

Dr. Eisenberg’s practice is dedicated entirely to cosmetic breast surgery; he’s performed over 7,000 breast surgeries including lifts, augmentations, and a combination of the two. Because he focuses exclusively on breasts, he’s developed improvements to the conventional breast lift technique.

Breast Surgery in the Hospital: It’s a Smooth Operation

While some doctors choose to perform breast augmentation and breast lift surgery in an outpatient surgicenter, I’ve chosen to do all of my surgeries at Nazareth Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia. Here are a few of my favorite things about working in the operating room there.

When I joined the Nazareth Hospital staff 20 years ago, I felt like I had found my surgical home. It’s a little bit like the bar in Cheers, the ’80s sitcom, “where everybody knows your name.”
