Breast Implants:
Things to Consider

You'll need to be patient after surgery. In general, it takes three to five weeks before you will feel like the breast implants belong to you and that there's nothing foreign inside of you. On the average, it takes about eight weeks before you are fitting better in a bra. After surgery, breast implants are generally high and hard; by three months, your breast implants will have softened and settled and the healing process will be about 80 percent complete. It may take between three and nine months for the implants to achieve their final shape.

Sensation to the breast, including the nipple and areola, may be altered and may be decreased or lost permanently, but this is rare.

There will be a permanent scar, although it is relatively small (just over one inch) and usually well hidden under the breast near the crease.
